In December 2018 I traveled to Madurai in Tamil Nadu, India to document a project Christian Aid was running in support of Dalit women (untouchables) growing organic crops and getting them to market. The stories of these women were often tragic, abandoned by alcoholic husbands or else widowed, they perservered and brought up their children whilst creating a cooperative agricultural operation growing organic produce.
