As preparation for my trip to festival of Qoyllur Rit’i high in the Peruvian Andes I went trekking in the Lares Valley, Less visited than the Machu Picchu and Inca trail it is a harsh enivronment where a handful of villagers hold out growing potatoes that they sell at the markets below.
